The Paradox went from jamming in an Atlanta apartment to opening a stadium show for Green Day in a matter of weeks, a leap that began after frontman Eric Dangerfield introduced the new band online in summer 2024 and Billie Joe Armstrong discovered their covers. Made up of Dangerfield, Christopher “Xelan” Bernard, Donald Bryant and Percy “PC3” Crews, the group pairs the speed and humor of 2000s pop-punk with songs about complicated relationships, early-adult pressure and the freedom to be yourself, while reminding listeners that Black artists belong at the center of rock’s past and future. Their audience grew from 130,000 followers in three weeks to more than 2.1 million across platforms, and early champions soon included Jack White, SZA, Kid Cudi and LeBron James, while Travis Barker joined them on the 2025 single “Bender.” In 2026, “Get The Message” made The Paradox the first all-Black band to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, followed by a Black Music Month Tiny Desk performance and selection for YouTube Music’s Foundry class.
The next chapter arrives October 2 with the six-song EP Proceed With Caution, alongside a first national headline tour that had already sold out 15 dates by July, including added second nights in New York and Los Angeles. Marriott Bonvoy can help turn that fast-moving online connection into a shared experience, giving fans a place to meet, and follow a band that is making more people feel at home in rock, one new city at a time.
