Following the release of their debut album Seashell Eyes, Date of Birth is a Bergen-based duo consisting of Birgitta Alida Hole and Pablo Tellez. Together they write, record and produce all of their music, blending 1960s and 70s pop and psychedelic influences with contemporary artists such as Broadcast, Weyes Blood and Tame Impala. Their sound is defined by close vocal harmonies, a strong melodic focus and detailed orchestral arrangements, shaped through a fully hands-on creative process.
Birgitta Alida Hole holds a degree in jazz vocals from the Grieg Academy and previously fronted the indie band Strange Hellos. Pablo Tellez is a bassist and producer known from several Bergen-based projects, including Young Dreams and John Olav Nilsen & Nordsjøen.
Before forming Date of Birth, the pair collaborated on Birgitta's solo project, which received airplay on NRK P2 and BBC Radio 6 Music.
Date of Birth debuted with Sunshine Girl in 2025, described by Beats Per Minute as "a vivid and hypnotic romp through acres of '60s pop psychedelia."
Their second single, Lovelorn, was playlisted on Norwegian national radio P3 Musikk and named one of spring's most beautiful songs by Dagsavisen.
Released in May 2026, Seashell Eyes received strong critical acclaim. The album was selected as Album of the Week on NRK P3 Musikk's Musikksjefen with Kristin Winsents, while iTromsø praised its melodic songwriting and richly detailed, sunlit pop production. Laboratório Pop described Date of Birth as part of "a lineage of European bands treating psychedelic pop as a language of composition and arrangement," calling Seashell Eyes "a rare debut".
Ahead of the release of Seashell Eyes, Date of Birth supported Summer Salt on selected European tour dates in Antwerp, Paris and Arnhem. The duo continue to perform live throughout 2026, with upcoming appearances including Øya Tuesday at SALT and Vill Vill Vest Festival. Acoustic and remix releases are also scheduled for autumn 2026.
