Originally formed in the mid-2000s, Give Up Hope built a strong local following through energetic live shows and the release of their debut album in 2010. Shortly after, the band entered a long hiatus as life commitments took priority, putting the project on hold for over a decade.
In late 2019, founding members Jared Boudakian (guitars) and Pat Azzola (drums) reconnected creatively and began writing new material. Ryan soon after joined the band playing bass. What started as a reunion quickly evolved into a full revival of the band, breathing new life into the original name with a refreshed lineup and renewed vision. The band also welcomed Bob Mendell as lead vocalist, whose dynamic presence and vocal style is helping shape the bandβs next chapter.
Sound and Influences
Give Up Hope blends the raw energy of mid-2000s alternative and rock with a modern edge, balancing melodic hooks, driving rhythms, and dynamic guitar work. Their sound reflects both their roots and their growth, drawing influence from the era that shaped them while embracing a more refined, mature approach to songwriting. The result is music that feels both nostalgic and forward-moving, capturing the intensity of their early years with the perspective gained over time.
