Drawing from a fusion of electronic, soul and folk genres, Becca James is a spiritual alt-pop artist and songwriter based in London. Originally based in the North of England, Becca moved to the capital in 2022 to study music at Tileyard Education. With soulful vocals and lyricism, her most recent collaborative track 'Can't Stop my Shine' with LA-based producer, Soulplusmind, has been placed in a new Netflix series, Wellmania, with Celeste Barber out on March 29th 2023.
As a songwriter, Becca has collaborated with exciting new talents on writing camps in the UK and Scandinavia through Tileyard Education, Live Now Play Later, DPA and Noatune Studios. Becca writes in a variety of pop, soul and dance genres with and for artists, alongside for sync projects, creating a new writing alias 'Trust the Season' to release a new track 'Honeymoon' with Nbdy Nprtnt and A&G Sync on 24th January 2024. Recent cuts with artists include ‘Trauma’ and title EP track 'Narcissist' with Cloudkid artist Cheska Moore and production by Mahrow Music (GL Music/Apex One), alongside ‘Satellite’ with Al Coffey, written with Lillvi Agnarsson and Gevin Niglas (Elements Music). Becca's own artist project is available to license directly and non-exclusively through curated sync agents and libaries, including the library at Sphere Trax.
Becca undertakes session work in the studio and for gigs as a vocalist and has recorded as a member of the GeO gospel choir for Join Our Revival Records at Abbey Road Studios on their project of recreating classic songs as house songs. Revival releases with the choir including ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me' with Kathy Brown, 'Think' with Phebe Edwards and 'Earth Song' with producer Greg Gould, and vocalists Anelisa Lamola, Phebe Edwards and Kathy Brown have amassed well over 1 million streams. Other session work has included featured vocals for a Musical Performance Film 'Alone' with Tranza Studio and producer JAPP with over 40k views on Youtube.
Released across the full moons of 2023, her artist project harnesses this powerful astrological energy to reflect the healing themes of the music. The opening single ‘One’ of her three-track collection, Trust the Season, was added to BBC Newcastle’s Introducing playlist across July, with the second single ‘Beauty’ landing Spotify editorial support on ‘an alternative future playlist’. The final track, ‘Hold You Close’, completed the EP on Friday, September 29th 2023.
A keen live performer, Becca performs in an acoustic trio, recently completing her most exciting gig to date at the Global Youth Awards at the Troxy London on November 18th; a night dedicated to celebrating young change-makers from around the world. The upcoming year will see Becca continue to follow the moon cycles with a new single release 'If you're not home' with Mark Stoney out on 23rd February 2024 and her second EP, God in Chains, due for an autumn release. The first release was accompanied by a tour around the UK, with shows in Huddersfield and a headline slot on International Women’s Day at the Globe in Newcastle on March 8th.
