Bio

Her name comes from Zimbabwe. It means "little spirit" in Shona. 2024 These Days Magazine Artist to Watch MOYANA (Moyana Music, LLC) is passionate about making music that makes a difference. She began releasing original music at fifteen in 2017, accompanying her vocals with instruments such as piano, acoustic & electric guitar, & electric bass. Performance highlights include The Capri Theater, The Schubas Tavern, Rockwood Music Hall, and the 50th annual Dillo Day, the largest student-run music festival in the United States. MOYANA is a member of the Royal Family Music Group collective in Minneapolis and a member of the Recording Academy's GrammyU Chicago Chapter. She currently records at studioSHAPES, LLC in Chicago. In 2023, she received the LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award from CITIBank and the Music Forward Foundation, the Quinn Coleman Scholarship from the Recording Academy, and a fellowship from the John Walt Foundation. She is an alum of the 2023 Willis Wonderland Foundation Next Level Songwriters Workshop and of the 2022 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project, and she served as a 2023 Keepsake House Artist-in-Residence.
