Icelandic composer Gabríel Ólafs is one of the most widely streamed contemporary instrumental artists of his generation, with over 500 million streams worldwide. His work has been described as “combining narrative world-building with charming melodies and atmospheric arrangements.”
Ólafs has released five studio albums internationally through One Little Independent Records and Decca Records US, alongside multiple EPs and vinyl releases that have built a global audience through streaming platforms.
Alongside his artist career, Ólafs is increasingly active as a media composer. He composed the score for the feature film Prosecution, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Panorama Audience Award for Best Feature Film, the CICAE Art Cinema Award, and the Heiner Carow Prize.
He is also the founder of Reykjavík Orkestra, a Reykjavík-based orchestral recording collective that has contributed to international productions including projects for Hans Zimmer, Blizzard Entertainment, Netflix, BBC, and EA Games.
Ólafs operates from Reykjavík’s Harpa Concert Hall, where he produces orchestral sessions for international clients.
