Bio

Lydia Saint George writes songs that feel like quiet confessions unfolding in slow motion, blending contemporary folk, indie folk, and alternative pop with a haunting gothic atmosphere. Her introspective songwriting turns deep emotion and lived experience into slow burning stories carried by intimate vocals, atmospheric textures, and reflective lyricism. Originally from Upstate New York, Lydia grew up in a ninety year old house surrounded by long winters and gray skies that still shape the atmosphere of her writing. She is now based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and continues to develop her sound through a growing catalog of releases.

North Carolina-based singer-songwriter lydia saint george returned with a new song “Lungs” on September 11, 2026. The song is her first new music since the 2025 single “paper plates” and EP “fawn and marrow”. Written in 2025, “Lungs” introduces a collection of music Lydia has been conceptualizing since 2022. The project moves between autobiography and imagination, allowing her to reflect on her own experiences while inhabiting characters and exploring emotional territory beyond her own life. On the track, her introspective songwriting transforms deep emotion and lived experience into slow-burning stories, carried by intimate vocals, shadowy textures, and reflective lyricism. It was written by Lydia Elizabeth Guirguis. lydia saint george said of the song, “This song is about giving up on a person and the relationship between the two of you—being tired of the excuses and the constant lack of effort on their part while you gave everything you had.” She continued, “I was flipping through loops and came across this eight-second keys loop that I listened to over and over. I knew I wanted to use it in something, and eventually I built the verse around it. The loop can still be heard on the final version. It was the last song I produced before the project went to final mixing.” She added, “This is my favorite body of work thus far. It’s a story I can choose to live in sometimes. It’s a reflection of who I am and, simultaneously, an exploration of characters’ lives and themes I’ve never experienced.”

North Carolina-based singer/songwriter Lydia Saint George has released her new single, “I’m a Little Scared,” out now via Gold Ship Records. Following September’s “Lungs,” the track continues a series of releases introducing her next body of work. Blending Indie Pop and Alternative music with candid storytelling, Lydia turns inward with “I’m a Little Scared,” exploring “the fear of being left out and the difficulty of escaping a memory that refuses to fade.” It reflects on an “uneasy tension between wanting the party to continue and struggling with the thoughts that follow you through it.” Lydia explains: ‘I’m a Little Scared’ is about being scared of feeling left out, haunted by a memory that follows you no matter how hard you try to ignore it or push it away. The highest highs aren’t enough to cancel out the lows. Struggling to differentiate between what’s real and what you’re imagining. Doing anything to quiet the voices, and anything to keep the party from ending. The song also “confronts lingering self-doubt”, which shapes the song’s production choices. Lydia adds: I wrote it when I was struggling with social anxiety and doubting myself as a musician, hence the line about ‘not being good at guitar.’ When it was time to produce it, I decided to sing the guitar solo rather than play it in order to fit that theme. Originally from Upstate New York and now based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Lydia writes at the intersection of Folk-rooted storytelling, Atmospheric Pop, and a Gothic sensibility.
