At the age of 2, Spencer started drumming. At around age 12, he started DJing and producing his own music, motivated by his dislike of the music selection at school parties. His first gigs included teenage birthday parties, Bar/Bat Mizvahs, and middle school parties. He moved to Dallas, TX when he was 13, where his DJ business grew. When Brown was 14, he discovered progressive house music through Axwell, Eric Prydz, and later Avicii.
His first break came when Avicii signed him to his label for his "Chalice EP" on LE7ELS in 2014. He made his live debut opening for Avicii at the Hollywood Bowl in 2013. Thereafter, he toured North America, opening for Avicii’s True Tour. After graduating from University his career picked up pace when he continued touring and releasing music. Shows with world-known DJs like Above & Beyond and deadmau5 and more recently supporting or playing alongside some of the world heavy weight headliners such as Eric Prydz, Green Valley, Brazil (alongsideBlack Coffee), Big Night Live, Boston (B2B withTestpilot), Studio 338, London (alongside John Digweed), B2B sets with Testpilot, Cristoph, Eli & Fur and in addition to 3 Diviine inspiration live shows (in Austin, Los Angeles & Denver) and his milestone Equanimity album tour of over 60 shows worldwide.
More recent conquests into new and expanding territories for Spencer Brown include The UK, Albania, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Argentina, Brazil and Taiwan while firmly establishing his following in Australia and India with career defining sold out headline shows in major markets such as Dallas, Toronto, San Francisco, New York, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Houston, Washington DC, Chicago, New York & Philadelphia to name a recent few.
Spencer Brown released his debut studio album, presented in mixed format, titled 'Illusion of Perfection’ on May 11, 2018. His dislike of radio edits inspired his decision to create a mix-album. He released his second album, also presented in mixed format, called 'Stream of Consciousness' on January 31, 2020.[22] Collaborators included label mates Ben Böhmer, Marsh, and Qrion. Both albums became number one on the iTunes Dance charts and presented Brown with international headline tours. In 2021, Spencer was signed by Sasha to his Last Night on Earth imprint and to Insomniac's newly established Factory 93 label imprint, further establishing his reputation in the global house and techno scene. 2023 saw the release of the third album, Equanimity. The mix-album was received to critical acclaim and toured globally over an number of month further cementing Spencer Brown in the realms of true musical artistry.
Even with this formidable touring schedule Spencer has found the time to launch his own record label, Diviine primarily as a vehicle to self release the seemingly never ending amount of fresh new music he is writing and curating some breathtaking album remix packages. Even with this remarkable output there have still been some recent high profile single releases on Bedrock and Higher Ground.
With continuous high demand for bookings in every corner of the globe Spencer Brown continues to treat crowds with his unique DJ sets, performed to instill a atmospheric sonic journey featuring undiscovered gems and his seemingly bottomless catalogue of favourites from past and present. No two sets are ever the same, a skill honed from 15 years of DJing on the fly and developing a truly captivating crowd connection and a masterful balance between groove and melody.
