Bio

Elephant Run is a Swedish–Brazilian band crafting Nordic Tropical alternative rock—a blend of haunting vocals, textured guitars, psych‑rock atmospheres and art‑rock detail, anchored by strong melodies. Their music lives in the tension between Nordic introspection and Brazilian fire, turning physical distance into a shared, cross‑continental sound.

The band began in 2014, when Amanda Wahlström Plantin moved from Malmö to São Paulo and met drummer Ladislau Kardos at a festival. Joined by guitarist and visual artist Fernando Coelho, and later bassist Renato Cortez, they wrote and recorded at home studios around São Paulo, eventually adopting the name Elephant Run and releasing their self‑titled debut—capturing the raw energy of their early days.

In 2018, Amanda returned to Sweden, and years of geographical distance and the COVID‑19 pandemic kept the band apart, leaving Elephant Run dormant and almost over. They stayed in touch mainly as friends until they finally reunited at Mato Records in the mountains of Minas Gerais, where they recorded their second album, Leftover Land (2024), praised for its layered arrangements, emotional weight and distinctive Nordic Tropical sound.

In October/November 2026, Elephant Run will release their third album, Infrared—an eclectic yet more focused work that explores what lies just beyond immediate perception, inviting listeners to actively engage rather than passively consume.

Elephant Run are not your average band, and Leftover Land is not your average sophomore album. This isn’t an album you put on in the background. This is sit-in-the-dark, headphones-on, do-not-disturb music. It’s cinematic. It’s cathartic. And it’s not afraid to take its time.

Pitch Perfect
Leftover Land surprised me. It’s quirky, emotionally layered, and never afraid to take detours. Elephant Run sound like a band uninterested in chasing trends and more invested in chasing ideas.

A Nordic Tropical Tapestry Of Resilience, Reflection, And Raw Beauty. This union of Nordic introspection and São Paulo’s experimental rock undercurrent created what the band fittingly describes as their “Nordic Tropical” sound, a captivating fusion of haunting vocals, textured instrumentals, and intricate rhythms. Elephant Run’s music is not merely a product of collaboration but a living testament to cross-cultural synergy, resilience, and shared passion that transcends borders.
