Sofia Menguita is a Filipino artist from little old Adelaide, sitting somewhere between the bittersweet alt-pop of Natalie Imbruglia and the dreamy warmth of Sixpence None the Richer. She started out in tender, diary-entry folk and slowly turned up the glitter… like turning bedroom confessions into something that catches the light.
Her breakout came with “Everyone I’ve Ever Loved”, an indie-folk track that slipped out of her bedroom and quietly found its way into a lot of people’s lives, growing far beyond what it started as.
It sits in the push and pull of teenage romances, the longing for something that feels like forever, and the ever-so quiet regret of realising you might have been with the wrong person and spending your time loving in the wrong direction. Soft, sad, and a little glowing at the edges, this song lingers like a memory you didn't really mean to keep.
From there, things naturally started to shift. Her sophomore EP Growing Pains explores the ups and downs of "teenage-ering" - from being the eldest everything, to navigating young relationships and everything in between. Set in that in-between space where you’re still half-kid, half-adult, and being fully overwhelmed by both.
That openness didn’t go unnoticed, with early coverage leaning into its emotional honesty and seeing it as a clear step forward in her songwriting.
“Still” then pushed that evolution further, leaning into a more luminous, melody-led indie-pop direction, while holding onto the same emotional grounding that has always defined her music.
All that momentum has carried her further in the years since, with Sofia independently running two headline East Coast tours between 2023-present, supporteing some of Australia's hottest acts Peach Fuzz at Howler, Esha Tewari, Katy Steele (Little Birdy), and Egoism, and played stages including WOMADelaide and Franjafest 3.
With her new single "If Anyone Asks" and an EP in the works, Sofia is building something heartfelt, sparkly, and entirely her own…
