Lydia’s music is more than just songs—it’s an experience. She describes her sound as lush, atmospheric, evocative, and cinematic, often blending a dreamy melancholy with a touch of vintage charm. “My songs are journeys,” she says, imagining them as movie soundtracks. Her ability to paint vivid emotional landscapes through sound aligns her with artists like Lana Del Rey, Amy Winehouse, and Billie Eilish vocally, while her production style draws inspiration from Hozier and Ethel Cain. As a songwriter, she takes cues from Maya Hawke and the Beatles, crafting lyrics that feel like lived-in stories, sometimes from her own perspective and other times through the lens of fictional characters.

Blending Indie Pop and Alternative music with candid storytelling, Lydia turns inward with “I’m a Little Scared,” exploring “the fear of being left out and the difficulty of escaping a memory that refuses to fade.” It reflects on an “uneasy tension between wanting the party to continue and struggling with the thoughts that follow you through it.” Lydia explains: ‘I’m a Little Scared’ is about being scared of feeling left out, haunted by a memory that follows you no matter how hard you try to ignore it or push it away. The highest highs aren’t enough to cancel out the lows. Struggling to differentiate between what’s real and what you’re imagining. Doing anything to quiet the voices, and anything to keep the party from ending. The song also “confronts lingering self-doubt”, which shapes the song’s production choices. Lydia adds: I wrote it when I was struggling with social anxiety and doubting myself as a musician, hence the line about ‘not being good at guitar.’ When it was time to produce it, I decided to sing the guitar solo rather than play it in order to fit that theme. Originally from Upstate New York and now based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Lydia writes at the intersection of Folk-rooted storytelling, Atmospheric Pop, and a Gothic sensibility.
