Artist Info

Filling a largely unoccupied space in New Zealand's music, Wellington Independent Artist Doma Cyno (CHEE-noh) sets his sights on bridging the gap between R&B style vocals and ambient, eclectic production choices.

Doma’s soft and airy vocal tone cut through this production, creating a melancholy juxtaposition.

In contrast to the hedonistic bravado of his R&B contemporaries, Doma offers his own personal take - often flipping the norms to explore unconventional subject matter, such as in his 2024 release ‘MRS ROBINSON’. The song name borrowed from the main antagonist of the 1967 film ‘The Graduate’, Doma vocally glides over an eerie string sample while lamenting to an older woman about their inappropriate power dynamic.

These efforts have cultivated an intimate following globally, with consistent streams Notable releases include 2022 release 'Perceive', gaining 4 million streams and charting on Spotify's Viral 50 in Vietnam. 2023 and 2024 were followed by a number of singles gaining Spotify editorial playlisting and a buzz in the underground R&B scene.

SPOTLIGHT RELEASE - 'Somethings and nothings'
Somethings & Nothings

Release Date

06/25/2026

Genre

Alternative R&B

Doma Cyno returns after a two year hiatus with Alternative R&B Ballad - 'Somethings & Nothings', a introspective track that is as thick sonically as it is lyrically. Doma writes from a personal lens against A 6/8 swing, with vocal stacks and lush strings ringing throughout.

Somethings & Nothings is produced by longtime collaborator Yohan De Silva, who has exclusively produced for Doma since 2023.

Covering an often overlooked part of meeting someone new, Doma writes about a relationship in which both parties have given portions of themselves in their respective pasts, as crooned in the hook of the song — ‘I’ve had somethings and nothings too’.

Doma will supplement campaign with a full length music video funded by New Zealand government fund 'NZOnAir', reaching listeners in NZ and worldwide market.

'With his classic old school R&B crooner atmosphere, 'Perceive' is a sweeping, soulful ballad speaking to the complexities of perspective and interpretation within a relationship. With his buttery-smooth melodies and falsetto gliding over a slow-burning instrumental produced by Sydney-based artist Liam Quinn, 'Perceive' is a moody and introspective account.'

'Although named after a small, quiet town in Poland, Doma Cyno is anything but. Rather he’s an enthusiastic and worldly young Wellingtonian spinning slick and smooth vocals over a simple chord progression that come together to form the alluring RnB track, Time and Place, which is Doma Cyno’s debut single. NZ On Air Music included it on their April NewTracks compilation.'

'It follows the release of his single Time and Place which has clocked up an impressive 118,000 streams on Spotify in only a matter of months. Perceive sees the young artist delving into the darker, moodier side of his signature bedroom R&B sound. The track showcases Doma Cyno’s impeccable vocals and blends his laidback delivery with sultry production that bounces and swells. '
