Bio

Founded in Cologne in 2013, Plainride have long carved out their place among the fiercest forces in Germany’s Heavy Rock underground. Known for explosive, sweat-soaked live shows (130+ across 10 countries) and a refusal to stick to genre boundaries, the four-piece blends massive riffs with soulful vocals, and unexpected twists – from harmonicas and violins to rap interludes and mythological motifs. Frequently likened to a “German response to Clutch,” Plainride channel the spirit of proto-metal, stoner rock, and 90s alternative into something distinctly their own: raw, epic, and fiercely alive. Their lyrics weave cryptic narratives, social unrest, and cosmic absurdity into hook-laden anthems, calling to mind genre titans like Monster Magnet, Soundgarden, and Queens of the Stone Age. After bouncing back strong from the pandemic with 2023’s self-titled third album – released to critical acclaim – the band hit the road hard, joining Corrosion Of Conformity for a 20-date European tour and opening for acts like The Vintage Caravan and The Winery Dogs. With a steady stream of new singles and a new album slated for 2027, Plainride are building toward their boldest chapter yet – (Jackalope) horns up, amps cranked, and dead set on leaving a mark.

Live Review RockHard
"This band seriously kicks ass and their swampy, barbed-wire blues sound is a perfect match for the headliner. To everyone who wasn’t there: the band led by vocal powerhouse Max Rebel comes highly recommended — straight to the heart. You don’t often find this level of international caliber in Germany. Clap, Clutch!"

"The longer and, importantly, more often you hear this album, the more you realize what an absolute banger this record is. Awesome!" – Marcel Thenée
Album Review Earshot.at (9/10)

Album Review RockHard (8,5/10)
"Plainride are another typical example of how little the prophet often counts in his own land. [...] These songs see eye to eye with their international counterparts, give off laid-back Yankee vibes and completely lack in German stiffness. Chapeau!" – Marcus Schleutermann
