India Shawn is an artist on the brink of a major breakthrough, with a journey rooted in both faith and persistence. Raised in church as the daughter of a worship leader, she discovered her voice early and stepped into music after a chance encounter in Atlanta led her to the studio for the first time.
She spent years building her craft behind the scenes, working as a background vocalist and songwriter for artists like Anderson .Paak, Daniel Caesar, Willow Smith, and The Internet. Though successful in that space, she ultimately chose to focus on her own artistry.
That reset led to her debut EP, Origin, followed by her 2015 collaborative project Outer Limits with James Fauntleroy, both of which established her as a distinct voice in R&B. After returning to Los Angeles and navigating years of rebuilding, balancing side jobs with background work, her persistence paid off with a major-label deal and the release of her critically acclaimed 2021 project BEFORE WE GO (DEEPER).
Following her departure from Epic Records, India entered a new chapter with VANTA Music – founded by Grammy® and Oscar®-winning producer D’Mile and Grammy®-winning engineer John Kercy – releasing standout singles like “There Must Be a God (From ‘She Taught Love’),” “Kill Switch,” and “Cotton Candy Blvd” featuring Lucky Daye.
Now, India stands at the edge of something transformative. As everything begins to fall into place, one thing is clear: India’s path forward holds an essence that is, and always will be, subject to change.
