Meaningful Stone is a South Korean singer-songwriter. In 2015, she began drawing attention for her unique sensibility and distinct musical world by uploading self-produced music videos and original songs to YouTube. After making her official debut in 2017 with her first single, "Camera in the Dream", she began receiving full-fledged critical acclaim starting with her 2019 single, "Fade Away".
Her first full-length album, A Call from My Dream, showcased her independence and capability as an indie artist, with Meaningful Stone personally handling every step from planning and production to release and her solo concert. With this album, she won the Rookie of the Year award at the 2021 Korean Music Awards (KMA), officially earning recognition for her musicality and influence.
The EP COBALT, released in the same year, clearly imprinted her identity as a rock singer-songwriter, reinterpreting '90s alternative rock sounds in the language of 21st-century youth. The album’s title track, "Dancing in the Rain", was nominated for Best Modern Rock Song at the 19th KMA (2022), receiving high praise from critics.
Since then, Meaningful Stone has steadily continued her musical activities. In 2024, she released her second full-length album, Angel Interview, once again revealing a strong presence. Composed of tracks blending dreamy guitar sounds with intimate emotions, the album maximized her unique lyricism and aesthetics through a narrative that crosses reality and fantasy. It proved her continuous artistic growth by being nominated for Best Modern Rock Album at the 22nd KMA (2025).
Meanwhile, in August 2026, she proved her further expanded musical spectrum by releasing the EP To: Hana. Passing through the EP COBALT, which was a record of night and youth, and Angel Interview, which captured the threshold of morning, this new release To: Hana portrays the brightest mid-day scenery of Meaningful Stone’s musical journey. Passing through wounds and confusion to finally reach serenity, she calmly unfolds the newly discovered love and faith within that space. This album can be said to be the most peaceful, serene, and deeply hopeful message-filled record in Meaningful Stone’s entire discography.
The title track and album name at the center of that change, "HANA", is an alternative rock/dream pop track in the format of writing a letter to a fictional character named 'Hana.' Over dreamy guitar sounds and calm vocals, the process of carefully accepting new thoughts and beliefs—as if encountering an unfamiliar existence for the first time—unfolds lyrically. Additionally, "1+1=0" was completed in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Jay Som. Adding Jay Som's sophisticated production on top of the poetic lyrics and songwriting written by Meaningful Stone, it displays the chemistry of two musicians representing the Korean and U.S. indie scenes. For this collaboration, Meaningful Stone personally traveled to the United States to work closely with Jay Som to complete the track, and the song born out of that intense communication captures the essence of global indie alternative sound.
