Prime Society is a genre-defying band redefining the modern live band experience through an explosive blend of funk, soul, hip-hop, R&B, and pop. The group officially became a full live band in 2021, expanding into an energetic, musicianship-driven performance that bridges generations and genres.
The band’s story is built on genuine chemistry and musical brotherhood. J. Reid (bass) connected with vocalist, songwriter, and visual artist Shyheim while attending Arizona State University. Fate took another turn when they realized keyboardist Juan was literally their next-door neighbor, completing the lineup that would become Prime Society. Raised in the church, each member developed a deep musical foundation that continues to shape the band today.
The band's reputation for delivering high-energy, crowd-engaging performances has earned them appearances on stages ranging from professional sports arenas to nationally recognized festivals and cultural events. Career highlights include performances at Burning Man, the Phoenix Suns, the Phoenix Mercury, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as a featured national headlining slot on the FoodieLand National Tour, with shows in Phoenix, San Diego, Sacramento, San Jose, Memphis, and Nashville.
Prime Society’s growing impact extends beyond the stage. In February 2025, the band was featured on AZ Family News, showcasing their music and growing influence throughout Arizona. In 2026, they performed at the legendary Oregon Country Fair, one of the nation’s premier arts and music festivals, further expanding their festival résumé. That same year, the group was honored as a recipient of the Liberation of Art Award by members of Congress in Tempe, Arizona, where the band met, recognizing their artistic excellence, community impact, and commitment to uplifting culture through music
