Eddie Cai, better known as Ionika, is a music producer, rapper, singer/songwriter, mixing & mastering engineer, and DJ from New Jersey. Cai began producing music in his early pre-teen years, influenced by the styles of Skrillex, Monstercat, and Dabin. In late 2014, he went on to release his first EP, titled The Meltdown, a bass-heavy, synth driven collection of his early works. One year later, he decided to attend NYU Steinhardt's Summer Electronic Music Institute. He was the youngest in the program. It was this program where he was also mentored and taught by pop sensation, Lauv and experimental artist, Yonsei. After the program, his influences switched to more experimental beat producers such as Flume, Ta-ku, and Dr. Dre. In 2016, he released his first debut album -- Reality. The 12-track album featured collaborations with several of his NYU friends, including Jacob Alexander and Anthony Sprunk. The album featured a more mature, experimental, melody-driven sound than his early EDM records. After spending some time in the rap/hip-hop community in Philadelphia where he graduated from Drexel University's music industry program, IONIKA pivoted over to producing K-pop where he ran a YouTube beat channel that garnered over 3.1M+ views.
Currently, IONIKA has returned to the EDM scene in Los Angeles, pumping out mashups / edits & remixes on his SoundCloud that have gained over 820K+ plays. In 2024, IONIKA released a collab with fellow producer OK JAYE! titled "VROOM", which kickstarted the JAYONIKA project, creating some of the greatest parties around Northern California - even opening for melodic dubstep producer, Hoang.
More recently in 2026 - IONIKA has made his Electrik Seoul debut opening for Johnny Chay. He has also sold out 2 headline shows in his home state & the very first JAYONIKA headline show at The Foundry in San Francisco.
Now pulling inspiration from ISOxo, Knock2, Control Freak & Skrillex, IONIKA has returned to the bass scene armed with unique remixes that have been supported by Juelz, Jessica Audiffred, Soul Valient, Beebo & Ailow as well as working on a highly anticipated original solo project - blending the underground sound with his origins in dubstep & trap.
